Smart Vision at Sea

  • FAQ

What type of camera should I choose (fixed or PTZ) ?

A fixed camera provides an unchanging field of vision where the detection performance is adapted by the focal length of the lens fitted on the camera. The longer the focal length, the narrower the field of vision and the larger the medium- and long-range detection capacity. The shorter the focal length, the wider the field of vision and the more limited the detection range.
A pan-tilt-zoom camera provides the option of a multifocal camera, and therefore covers both short- and long-range detection. However, cameras of this type provide only one semi-permanent view of a panorama, as they need to scan the sector continually to obtain a full display.
